Deepest sympathies on the devastating loss of Nichola. I am so saddened to hear of Nichola's passing. Such a huge loss to her family and the very many people that her drive and positivity touched and benefited from.

On behalf of the DSI National Advisory Council, we would like to extend our sympathies and blessings to Nichola’s family. The NAC described Nichola as a great work colleague, a good, kind and loyal person with a big heart who was easy to talk to. She was a great public speaker and always powerful. She was always happy and friendly and the NAC will miss her dearly. Her legacy with the NAC will go on.

Saddened to hear the loss of Nichola, she always had a positive outlook on life, enjoyed her life and never took it too seriously.She was taken too soon and had alot yet to contribute both at a professional and personal level. Heartfelt condolences to Nichola’s family, particularly Elizabeth of whom she always spoke so fondly. I was truly shocked and saddened to hear of her sudden passing. I have known Nichola for over a year now on the Board of DSI and she was a fabulous, kind, caring and talented person. She will be dearly missed by the wide DS community.

Ah I'm so very sorry to heat that Nichola has passed away. We'd always have a little chat whenever we'd meet on the street. I met her first when she'd be dropping Elizabeth off to creche at the same time I'd be dropping my son off and I'd also generally bump into her in the coffee queue across the road too. Over the years since, we'd bump in to each other and ask about the children. She was a lovely, friendly woman who clearly adored Elizabeth. Sincerest sympathy to Nichola's family and friends. C

Nichola was so kind to us when I looked after Elizabeth in the baby room in Waterford Childcare Centre. She had a heart of gold and was always so kind to the staff , nothing was ever an issue to her. When I had my own daughter in 2014 , I always remember she bought me a beautiful blanket for her, it was so beautiful and I’ll always remember her generosity and thoughtfulness . Ever since I would meet her on the corridor, with a big grin and Hi Sinead and often a C chat and few words. She will be always missed . RIP Nichola x

Words can't heal the intense pain for her family, friends and all who knew her and nothing will fill the void of the force that Nichola was. I am deeply sorry and shocked to hear about Nichola's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with her most cherished daughter, Elizabeth, and the Aylward and Hughes families during this difficult time.

I had the privilege of getting to know Nichola over the past year and half. She was an incredible support to our community here in Wexford DS and offered support and advice. Her vision and unwavering dedication to improving the lives of people with Down syndrome in the southeast inspired us all. Nichola gave us confidence and hope that positive change was on the horizon for us all.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.
