Dear Tomás and family,

I was very sad to hear the news about your Dad. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Having only recently leared of Nicholas's death R.I.P., may I offer belated condolences to the McCabe Family.; My recollection of Nicholas extends back over half a century to the meeting in Ardee at which Nicholas was selected for the first time to run for membership of Louth County Council. Little did we realise the force for good that we were launching.

Serving for eight years with Nicholas on the Ardee Community School Board of Management, I greatly admired his innate sense of justice. He was a man of principle and integrity. He cared for the welfare of all the students and staff. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of the passing of your father

I have fond memories of Cllr Nicholas McCabe in his role as a delegate from Louth County Council coming to the meetings of the General Council of County Councils in various parts of the country. He was a gentleman always with a pleasant word. He and his travelling companion the late Cllr Tommy Reilly were a pleasure to meet and well regarded by their colleagues from all the other local authorities. No doubt they will be sharing many good local government stories in Heaven. May Cllr Nicky rest in peace.
