Dear Robbie Penny and family, Sincere sympathy at this sad time.
We never met Nick but we feel we know a wonderful young man from all the beautiful words written in the condolences.

My deepest condolences to the Grier family for your loss. I had the pleasure of being taught accounting by Mr. Grier in Rathdown. I’ll always remember him taking us up to insomnia, with a Tupperware of home-made chocolate biscuit cake, always making sure first and foremost that we were happy. Rest in peace Mr. Grier.

It is so sad to hear this news. Nick was a great friend, even though we moved away to Canada, i still cherish the memories we had together growing up. He was a great person and will be surely missed. Passing along our condolences to the entire Grier family during this difficult time.

I’m so sorry to hear of Nick’s passing. He taught me accounting and he was my favourite teacher in Rathdown. He was so kind and he cared so much about all of his students. He put in so much extra effort to make sure we were all doing our best, and he was always so lovely to be around. We’ll all miss him so much

It was with a deep sadness that we heard of the untimely passing of Nick. Nick's funeral service was evidence of the love and support of the Grier family and friends for Nick. I smiled as I thought of the fun and mischief he had in some of the nicknames he had for me! particularly when I met Nick out walking Bailey. My earliest memories of Hillcourt include all the Grier boys and a bounding Trampas coming to say hello. Tutor Nick added a smile and fun to life. I am so, so sorry to hear this news. Nick was such a lovely guy. When I think back to our school days in Wyvern some of my fondest memories were of him and the mischief we all used to get up to. He was so full of fun. And it was always done in the most good-hearted way. He was very thoughtful of others. Thank you, Nick, for all the joy and fun. I will always remember your cheeky smile and sense of humour.

I wanted to send my condolences on the news that Nick has passed away. We were close in Wesley and I have been very upset to learn that he’s gone so young. Me and my Dad who taught in Wesley too have been away on holiday this week and haven’t been able to attend the funeral but have shared many stories about Nicholas. I watched the service on YouTube and it was a beautiful tribute. I taught Holly the piano last year in Wesley and I was very moved by how much she adored him. A big loss, and I’m so sorry. Nick was a couple years ahead of me in Wesley so I didn't know him very well then but got to know him from meeting him often in the gym. He was such a nice guy and always smiling despite the illness he was battling. I will miss bumping into him and having a laugh together. RIP Nick

Dear Phil and all your family, I'm so deeply sorry to hear about the untimely loss of your brother. Thinking of you at this very sad time.

I offer Robbie, Penny, Simon Michael, Philip, the extended Grier family and Nick’s extended group of friends my most sincere condolences upon the recent passing of Nick while in hospital. You must all be devastated by the sad loss after Nick’s period of illness in hospital.

Nick was one of the most entertaining and enjoyable people to be around while I was in Wesley College back in the 1990s during break time. Nick and I always had lively conversations and jokes about school work, sporting and social occasions while in Wesley College that lifted our spirits during the daily grind back during our schooldays.

I hope that the extended Wesley Community hold on to their fond memories of Nick and the good times that we had with him from our time back in Wesley College together. I apologise that I will not be able to make his funeral due to extenuating circumstances at the present moment.

I hope to celebrate and commemorate his life and times with the Grier family in the near future. May God’s mercy descend upon you all at this most difficult time.

When you teach for over thirty years some students leave an indelible impression upon you, and Nick was definitely one of those. He talked as much to me as he did to the students in my class, always with something to add to any topic. He didn't see boundaries, and made his own, which was strangely why he was so lovable. If he gave you a friendly nickname you were one of the gang regardless of whether you were child or adult. Nick was refreshing. There was never a dull moment but then he would smile and show his warmth and genuine kindness and you would forgive him any wayward chatting or errant behaviour.
In the last few years I knew he had been teaching in Rathdown and sad that I missed overlapping with him there, that would have been a pleasure. His loss must be like a light going out and I am so sorry that he has left so soon and wish all his family my condolences for their pain on his passing.

I was so sad to hear of Nicky’s passing. He was a great person who had a heart of gold. He was also a smashing football player with a blistering shoot. #goodtimes rip ❤️
