Growing up I remember Nick as one of my father’s most loyal and steadfast friends. When I became the Principal of Coláiste Lorcáin, I was able to rely on his generous support and wise advice. I’ll always to grateful to him for continuing that steadfast support into a second generation and for the huge contribution he made to education in Kildare and beyond. A decent and quietly remarkable man.

I had the pleasure of working with Nicholas when he served as president of the VEC principals association. His enthusiastic dedication and commitment to educating students was remarkable. His legacy can include the work he contributed to the formation and development of the Further Education Sector in Ireland. Nick was a gentleman and all enjoyed his company. I'm so very sorry to hear of Mr Walshs passing - one of lifes gentlemen who only ever had a students interest at heart. He instilled hard work, kindness, honestly and integrity in us all. Deepest condolences to all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.

Sincere sympathy to the Walsh family on Nick’s passing. Nick and I fought the good fight for Co Kildare VEC, the VTA and TUI as teachers, principals, union members and delegates. Nick was instrumental in introducing significant innovation in Further Education and Training - Plcs and amalgamation and cooperative working between schools. Nick’s legacy in Education is one of innovation and progress. May his dear soul Rest in Peace.

Sending my deepest to the Walsh family on the death of Mr. Walsh. He was a great principal who supported and encouraged many students achieve their full potential. I was a student at Coláiste Lorcáin from 1988 to 1994.

I was sad to hear of Nick’s passing. I remember him fondly from my time as a pupil at Colaiste Lorcain. He was a great ambassador for that school and also very kind and maintained a great sense of humour.
