I am so very sorry we have lost Nick. I was very upset when I was told of his terminal illness. Its so hard to believe. My last memory was our night in Powerscourt Hotel a short few weeks earlier. Dreadful.
It seems we are losing all of them, Derek, Anton, Ben, Derek Brown. Lets hope they are all at peace.
You take care of yourself.

Condolence to Michelle and the O Toole family on the passing of Nick. We were shocked to read of Nick's untimely passing in The Irish Field. We like so many others came to know and love Nick as members of The Irish Racegoer's Club. Arkle and Nijinsky often coming up for discussion, so privileged that we were brought up in such a golden era. Racing is the poorer now without Nick's presence, but the richer because of his legacy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May Nick rest in eternal peace

I was shocked and saddened to read the unexpected news of Nick's death in The Irish Field today. A chat with Nick was always part of a day at the races over several decades. Nick knew everyone (and everything) in the racing world and everyone knew Nick. Everyone wanted to be on his team for racing quizzes. It was an honour to once sell him some Arkle racecards from my own collection. I knew that they were going to a good home, and I hope that Nick's whole unique collection of memorabilia will now find another good home. Deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Nick was a charming person. As recently as 4 weeks ago I met him in O'Reilly's Pharmacy. He looked so well that I didn't bother to ask how he was. I asked after Michelle. He then told me of his bad news. A very gracious acceptance of his fate. Loved meeting him. He was a most honourable man. He came to Naas some years ago and became more Naas than us. A remarkable man. Kind to everyone consequently he'll have no problem entering Paradise. He will rest in peace
