My heartfelt condolences to the Rankin family and Nick's friends. Many of us in the Callcard collecting community have just learned of Nick's untimely passing.

His passion and dedication to this community was impecable and was regarded as a subject matter expert with many Callcard collectors across Ireland.

With my own Callcards site, Nick constantly kept me on my toes as he continued to raise the bar with a high standards and impressive website. Co-incidently this week, I came across a lovely email from Nick, where we were both quoted in an Irish Times article on the subject we both loved.

May he rest in peace and may the words of so many kinds words I've read here bring some comfort during this difficult time.

Whether it was offering support on a challenging task or taking the time for a casual chat, Nick had a way of connecting with people that made him not only a great professional but also a wonderful person to be around.

Dear Brian, Deirdre, Ian, family and all Nick's friends and Colleagues

I was so saddened to hear about your loss. I just met Nick for the first time back in January when we both signed up for the Masters course at TUD. Nick was such a great person to have in the class, always engaging with fellow classmates and helping people out whenever he could. He had also just received excellent scores for his first semester and it was very clear he was a very bright young man. One of his papers was even requested for use as a sample to help other students. We will miss him very much and he will always be on our minds.

Hoping you all find the necessary courage to get you through this extremely tough time. I am thinking of you all.
— Sian O'Briain

Many people leave this world having reached a great age in numbers. But only a special few leave this world having touched so many hearts. In his own way of living, Nick has done this.
With the support of his wonderful family, in his own quiet way he has been a teacher of humanity.
