My Homage To A Truly Great Man

When I heard about Nicky Ryan's passing on September 11, 2025, I was paralyzed and in extreme shock. I couldn't and I simply didn't want to believe it. Of all days, on the anniversary of September 11, 2001.

I listen to the Music of Enya since a very long time, a symbol of hope and of hearts, even in extremely difficult times.

I hope that Enya herself, the lyricist Roma Ryan, Roma's daughters Persia and Ebony, as well as Enya’s and Roma’s closest friends and family members are doing well.

I would like to express my sincere condolences and pay my deepest respect and high esteem, especially to Nicky Ryan. His legacy will never be forgotten. Enya's music always gives me an extreme amount of strength, support, stability, hope, faith, and comfort.

Dear Enya: Please continue with your art and with your music - for as long as you possibly can, because you are truly needed… by the whole world. You touch the hearts and souls of an incredible number of human beings on this earth. You are a true source of inspiration – and of hope.

I wish you, Enya, the lyricist Roma Ryan and the Ryan family members an extreme amount of strength and fortitude during this incredibly difficult time of immeasurable emotional loss.

The very first day of listening to Enya's music, which was in 2020, is still unforgettable. The soundscape moves me to tear and I did not have even an encounter with anything similar. However, knowing that your sound technology was the backbone of the atmosphere, never-and-ever-heard sounds, and unbreakable originality of Enya's songs was far more surprising to me. I fell in love with the power of sound... Now I compose, sing, record, and mix myself. How could I make up my mind to live in crafting the world of music if I didn't meet your sounds? You are not just a man from a far place for me. You were always with me. You encouraged me to live my life. I cannot thank enough. I was so sorry to hear this. My sympathy to Roma and family, and to Enya. I will never forget the day in the Danieli Drive studio when Nicky put a pair of headphones on me and played The March of the Celts. It was a pleasure to meet him and see him at work. Such a talent.

Nicky Ryan was a visionary and a greatly gifted arranger and producer of music who succeeded into creating the incredibly healing soundscapes through the 'wall-of-sound' and 'choir-of-one' methods he envisioned. His dedication is evident in the quality in music in each of the trio's 131 musical creations/songs. Applied to Eithne's divinely melodical music has resulted to a form of music that has healed and comforted millions of fellow souls throughout the decades, nourishing and giving them the necessary energy to continue. Being an essential part of my soul's journey throughout my lifetime here, it has also helped elevate my soul and connect it to the divine; it made me appreciate the significant contribution arts, and especially quality music, can exert towards my soul's refinement. I firmly believe that if every person on Earth listened and appreciated to the trio's music, the world would be a much better place. Now, his soul will 'sail away' and through 'the Loxian Gates' and will ascend to heaven, perhaps arranging the cosmic music of creation and helping shift divine justice more towards this unforgiving world.

I'm very sorry to learn about the passing of Nicky Ryan, I never had the pleasure of meeting the man but I am very well versed on his work and the pleasure that it has brought to so many people around the world. I remember the night that I heard "Orinoco Flow" for the first time, I thought it was the most beautiful piece of music that I'd ever heard. It has been followed by classics like Only Time, Caribbean Blue, It's in the Rain and the gem which is The Humming. When you purchased an Enya CD you always knew that you were buying an item of quality containing songs and music which were very well crafted, very well polished and very well presented. Nicky Ryan's contribution to music will live long into the future. To Roma, Ebony, Persia and Enya, I extend my sincere sympathy, may he rest in peace.
