Dear Suzanne, Emma & all the family, sincere sympathy to you on Nigel's passing. He was nature's gentleman, who always acted honourably, with integrity and engendered great stability. His word was his bond. I thank him for his kind and personal support to me, and to many young working mothers in the early days, no doubt more conscious than most due of our challenges due to him having strong women at home! Be comforted and proud of the respect his memory will always evoke.

Nigel was a warm and welcoming presence for many of the current members of the Dalkey Archives. He was a fine cricketer, a great sport and very patient with those of us who struggled with the finer points of the game. He was a great loss to the side when he decided to hang up his bat.
To all of his family (including our current team-mate, Stewart) we send our deepest condolences.

To Suzanne and family,
Having known Nigel since we were seven at prep school together, the fond memories of the great character he was and the great camaraderie we enjoyed as members of the 1st XV and 1st Eleven Cricket teams will never be forgotten but do make his very sudden and unexpected departure all the more shocking! However, the depth of these feelings I am sure, go nowhere near the depth of loss and pain you must all be feeling at this sad time. Please accept our deepest sympathies and know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
With love from us both.

Nigel was the kindest gentleman I've ever had the pleasure of working with and I admired him greatly. He taught me so much and had a fantastic sense of humour. His generosity and thoughtfulness continued long after his retirement. For a man with such great presence, his absence will truly be felt.
Thinking of you all and wishing you strength during the darkest moments.
