It was a privilege and a pleasure to work under Noel in Glasnevin in the mid eighties, definitely the kindest boss I had by some distance. He treated young staff making their way with the utmost respect and was always extremely supportive and patient whenever mistakes were made. In an industry not particularly known for its humanity Noel shone brightly. May he rest in peace.

Playing golf with Noel meant more than him winning the money every week! It was a few hours of warmth. Rugby analysis, bad jokes, chat about our families, fishing stories… He was caring and helpful, with wise advice if you asked for it. He didn’t impose it.
I was always aware of how important his family was to him. Especially the grandchildren. His unassuming manner meant I often felt he had no idea how popular he was. He was a wonderful, lovely man. Rest peacefully, Noel.
Sincere condolences to you Blanaid and the Dwyer family on the sad passing of your beloved Noel.

My deepest sympathies to Bláthnaid and family on the passing of Noel. I had the honour of enjoying his company on so many occasions through Dad while learning my trade on the Woodbrook fairways. It was a pleasure soaking up all their roguery and friendship over the years.

He had so much warmth and wit and was such a lovely kind man. A true gent. My great comfort in knowing he’s gone to join Dad and the gang, no doubt slagging and jostling over another “half match” on the fairways in the skies.

May he rest in peace

Jim and all the Dwyer family, Deepest sympathy on the passing of your brother Noel. We are thinking of you all at this time and May he rest in peace.
Jumbo will be sadly missed in Lansdowne. He was one of the most popular members of the club. My first impression of him was his ability to welcome young players to the club, and what a player. In my first year we won the Leinster Senior Cup and he was mammoth in that win, destroying the opposition front row in every match. His ability to deal with the front row “Dark Arts” was akin to Harry Potter, amazing!! What a player.
He played brilliantly for Leinster against the All Blacks in a very tight game and as always he was an outstanding teammate. He should have been capped for Ireland but the politics of that time in rugby were akin to the Dail. Off the pitch, he and the lovely Blanaid were a magical combination, full of fun and craic in Lansdowne. He had sense of humor that would have the place rocking. He was just great. And we loved him, and we still do.
