Offering my deepest condolences to Betty Leon Niamh Julie Mary and Noel’s mother Ann and all the Hogan family of the passing of my lifelong neighbour and friend, your beloved Noel.

What an amazing childhood we all shared growing up on the Main Street of Birr. The countless hurling and soccer games in back gardens and ‘down back lane’ - the matches continued unrelentingly for hours, the only pause to play being the ball retrieval from ‘Scotty Dunnes’ or squeezing under Fayles gates and more.

The darts tournaments in Mrs. Hogans ‘back kitchen’ and watching Bruce Springsteen and Dire Straits on MTV while a disgruntled Willie Hogan trying to read the newspaper would ensure the volume never went too high!

Add in Schools and Club hurling games and the lively banter over Arsenal Spurs Liverpool First Division soccer, the food treats from local mothers with home made frozen ice pops and ham cheese sandwiches and diluted orange drinks ensured we could start a new backyard game and play until the daylight was overtaken by darkness.

So many wonderful memories and more….
