So sorry to hear of Noel’s passing – he and Patricia welcomed me to their house one evening to talk about the impact of Yvonne’s death on their lives for a piece I was writing about the need for a motorway from Cork to Limerick.

They were both so welcoming and so honest and the story he told about coming downstairs every morning and lighting a nightlight for Yvonne every day for over 20 years was so powerfully poignant and tenderly touching, it really was extraordinarily moving.

To Pat and all Noel's family - I'm so sorry for your loss. Noel loved you all so much and was so proud of you. For those of us who were lucky enough to have worked with Noel, he was a great support and a good and caring friend. And the work he did was inspiring. He did his job with such compassion and wisdom.

Hello to you all. It’s Kay’s and Clay’s son Brian here. Just to send you Pat and all of Noel’s direct and wider family a big hug and condolences from here in France. I learned of Noel’s passing from my brother Graham, who passed me a message from Angela while myself and my wife Isabelle were on a trip back to Cambodia with our son Luka, who was born there. It is nice to know Noel died peacefully even if it’s small solace, I’m sure. I wish all of you all of the strength and courage you will need right now and in the future. We never see each other but you are in our thoughts and we send you a big warm wave from afar.

Grief has no timetable when something like this happens, it is very difficult to say goodbye and even harder when it is to someone like Noel who was a wonderful person and a great work colleague for years. Words just cannot describe how downhearted we are at this great loss. Noel’s great loss leaves everyone figuring out how to pick up the pieces, he was very special to the larger Community where he worked and had time for everyone.

May you find Patricia and family comfort in remembering the special moments that brightened the days throughout the years and hope ye allow all the memories ye shared to glow in recognition for a lifetime. Noel was taken far too early: may he now be rewarded and share a new life with his late daughter Yvonne.

I was sad to hear of the passing of Noel, a former neighbour in Turners Cross. I worked with Noel on many projects over the years. He was a true Christian who always cared about people, particularly the vulnerable. For me he was inspirational in the work he did for others. My sincere sympathies to his beloved wife Patsy, children Angela, Roy, Lorraine, Steven and the extended family. May your memories of Noel sustain you in the time ahead and may Noel RIP.

I am so sorry to hear of the sad passing of your beloved Noel. He was such a wonderful person who made such a major contribution to our community and changed people’s lives for the better.
