My condolences to all the McKenna family. I have fond memories of working in Heuston Station 35 years ago when Noel was in charge but fonder still memories of great rugby weekends in Lansdowne Road, Edinburgh, Cardiff and London. You gave your dad a lovely send off today and he’d be very proud of you all. Take care.

Noel was a highly respected colleague of mine in Irish Rail who served after me as Stationmaster Heuston and District Manager Operations Mainline. He was highly respected by everyone who interacted with him - his Kerry ancestry being a big factor in his easy relationships with staff and customers alike.

Noel and i worked together at Heuston Station. We were members of Hollywood Lakes and The Jameson Links golf clubs. Many the battle we had on the fairways trying to win the coveted €1 bet. Noel was a dedicated railway man. Highly respected by his colleagues he was courteous and fair in his dealings with customers and staff. My sincerest condolence to his children Caroline, Morgan and Nicola and to the McKenna family.
