Noel Mullaney

So sorry to hear the sad news of Noel’s. death. Our deepest sympathy to daughter Orla, son Liam Sisters Imelda and Concepta. I first saw Noel play for Sooey in the late 50s against Knockalassa in Riverstown. And in the early 60 watching Noel play with Sligo in goals,And in Wembley Stadium 1966 two players from Riverstown area Noel and Hugh McGonigle. He was always a gentleman and a pleasure meeting him over the years when back in Whitehill. May Noel’s gentle soul Rest in peace.

I was truly saddened to learn that Noel had left us. We go back a long way, playing football together from the ages qf 13 to 36. I came to journeys end then but. typically, Noel was far from finished Through the years since then, I was always so glad to meet him and go over old times, travelling from Mullaney's field to the more sophisticated modern football arenas that subsequently came into being. Our paths have since crossed on the golf course now, however in opposition. but our friendship survived even that. Noel was a superb goalkeeper but, even more importantly, a lovely man. I only hope there is football and ceili dancing in some corner of Heaven Our sincere sympathy goes to his grieving family. May Noel now rest forever in peace.
