Dear Mona and family, Our deepest sympathies on the passing of Noel. Our thoughts are with you. May he rest in peace.

I was so sad to hear of Noel’s passing and I’m thinking about you Mona, Grainne, Patrick and all the family. My memories of Noel go back as far as being 7 or 8 and sitting around the O’Flaherty dinner table where there would be robust debate about some current affair or other. There’d be loads of chat and differing views extended and if you were quiet and shy, Noel would always be sure to invite you into the conversation. He’d silence the chorus of confident voices around you and open the door for everyone to have their say – no matter what your age! He was always interested in other people’s views. I’d say it was meeting Noel when I first realised I had the right to an opinion - in fact, I should have an opinion!  He took the time to listen to you, weigh up what you had to say and respond. It was always great craic around the O’Flaherty dinner table! I know you’ve lost a dear and essential part of your world but I know the love Noel had for you all, and you for him, will sustain you. It’s so hard losing someone you loved so much but their teachings are with you always. Mona, I know your great friends Ann and Finian are there with you now in spirit at this difficult time.
