I would like to offer my condolences to the family of the late Noel O'Neill. Noel was a thorough gentleman and I thoroughly enjoyed the many chats with him over the year. My fondest memory of Noel is the occasion, the Bishop of Cork, (who hailed from Kerry) celebrated mass in the parish to mark some auspicious occasion in the life of the church. Noel was the Mater of Ceremonies, which he conduced with absolute absolute decorum and dignity. Noel concluded the proceedings with a superb quip of being somewhat puzzled by how a Kerryman managed to become the Bishop of Cork. Noel made an enormous contribution to the life of St.Mary's Parish and will be sorely missed not only by his immediate family and the parish, but paricularly by all those whose lives he touched by such involvement. There is a sean-fhocal in Irish, which beautifully encapsulates Noel's individuality, brilliant mind, camaraderie and personal friendship - Ní bhfeicimíd a leithéid arís, which translated means ''we won't see the likes of him again'. May Noel rest-in-peace.
