Deepest sympathies to Una,Paula,Declan and Lorna.May Noel Rest in Peace.Noel was the heart of Raharney,who modestly procured items for his shop,that were unlikely to be obtained anywhere else.I remember a newcomer coming to Raharney and having walked the streets of Dublin ,looking for a particular item,came across it unexpectedly in Noel's shop!
In teacher training ,no one needed to explain the Shop Keeper method of calculation to me-Noel Weir came to mind and that was sufficient for me to understand how it worked.
Weir's was and is the heart of our community,a unique place ,and Noel and Una have a lot to be proud of and to cherish.
When Noel retired from the shop ,his care and attention to Una wasn't unexpected and was very admirable.
I will miss seeing him , sitting in his chair,in the porch.It was a nice place for him to be in the Summer.

The passing of Noel creates a large void in the village community,he was central to all matters relevant to the development of Raharney and the community.
One of the most signigicant contributions to the "village" I remember was of Noel and the late Seamus Brennan,NT negotiating for the procurement of a piece of land from the Land Commisioners that has now evolved into a marvellous GAA facility.
A further memory was of Noel "waiting for Clarkson from Mullingar" to bring the hurls that we could buy for 1/6p on our way to school.
