My dear, dear cousins, I cannot possibly imagine your pain. I hope and pray that you can find some solace knowing that a heart of gold is now in His embrace. And forgive me for saying some things that you all know too well but should nonetheless be spoken very much aloud now....There are some very rare persons who instinctively understand "non sibi," and your Mum/sister was one such rarity. She had a gift, she knew it, and she gave it away in every conceivable way--as is His wish....In 1995, my first trip to Ireland, with my Mum, Norah opened two doors--one to her home and family, and another to her heart. I recall then the cake of "A Hundred Thousand Welcomes," and later a breakfast made by her loving hands, her insistence that I get care when I was ill, and always a very infectious sense of humor. I recall telling her that she was a wonderful mother, and now I am (very selfishly) happy that I said this, even though it was/is so obvious to her children....I regret that I could not be physically present for the funeral Mass, but I did share it here via the web cast....Goodbye my dear cousin, but it is not goodbye of course.

She and I met in 1997, `Nora transformed our lives by coming to our home to help Jonathan and I nurse our very sick baby Jack. With her light, her expert care and experience she helped us find a way for our family to smile again , to function and for baby jack to enjoy a quality of life at home . Nora's kindness and expert home care experience was the inspiration for us to start the jack and jill foundation. I will never forget her , and she was and is a beautiful angel sent to us. May she rest in peace.

Matt, Soph, Hugh, and Jane, I am so sorry to hear the news about your Mum. Some of my fondest childhood memories are situated in both of your family homes and involve your mom. In hindsight, playing soccer in the back garden under your mom’s supervision were some of the best times. I always enjoyed chatting and laughing with her in the kitchen, where she showed no end of patience for our nonsense. You are all in my thoughts, and I am sending my love!
