I have been thinking long & hard for weeks about how to articulate what, Norma meant to me, to our family & our daughter whom she met at only a few weeks old (having been born with a huge skin tag on her face & a deformed tragus) and had regular meets pre and post her operation three years later (which is nearly a decade ago now). I still can't seem to find the words but what I know is when I found out at our recent appointment, when I asked her amazing team mate, Simon where she was, I cried within a second, it truly broke me & I cried all the way home, most of the next day & since! She was & will always be one of the most important people to our family. The emotional support she gave us, me especially as a new mother, was just amazing, not forgetting Gabriella's amazing transformation. She eased our minds, we trusted her implicitly from the get-go, making handing a 3yo Gabriella to her and Simon feel so easy & safe. She was & always will be an in integral part of our lives & I will ensure Gabriella always knows her name... she got the funding too so we didn't have to worry about that, just so kind & thoughtful!
The world really did lose one of its greatest & whilst, I know, Simon will carry on her incredible work, we will miss her so much.
I was always so grateful but I really hope she felt her huge, positive & lifelong impact.
Lastly, it would be hugely remiss of me to not mention her style; those skirts - she really knew how to dress!
RIP lovely Norma Timoney. xxxxx

We would like to thank everyone who attended our sister Norma's funeral services in London and Dublin, and those who sent messages of condolence. Your support is very much appreciated.
Sending love and condolences. I had the pleasure of working with beautiful, elegant Norma for over a decade in the Cleft Team at St Thomas's and will never forget her. Such a honour to work along side her. Such an inspiring colleague. So bright, so kind and calm, she was always so immaculately prepared for every clinic - always ready to do her best for everyone, to give them her time in her quiet considered way . A hugely talented surgeon. She looked after her patients, their parents , the trainees and colleagues . She was a friend and an inspiration. I loved our little chats over tea. Norma will continue to be dearly missed and remembered. Gone too soon. May she rest in peace .
Incredibly sad to hear of Dr Timoney's passing. We first met when my son was only 6 weeks old. He is now 10. She has improved my son's quality of life and for that we are eternally grateful. An incredible doctor who I'm sure will leave a lasting legacy at the Evelina London.
Rest in peace and thank you for everything

Hand on my heart, I can say Ms Timoney changed my sons life. I will tell Nathaniel about his first surgery and how it was done so beautifully - and executed so swiftly. Ms Timoney, thank you.
We are so sorry to hear of Norma's passing and will always be very grateful for the skillful surgeries she performed for our first born son Nathaniel in the first year of his life. Her steady hand, calm straightforward manner and clear reassurance were a godsend to us during worrying times. I remember how positive she was when we last saw her following a palate X-ray, how enthused she was with the results and how much encouragement she gave to our son. Thank you Miss Timoney you were an absolute legend xx
Norma operated on my son and whenever we met in clinic she always made me feel listened to and heard.
She will be missed by a huge community that she helped beyond surgery- in her kind manner and her thoughtful approach

Norma, thank you for looking after my son, Jayden and performing his lip operations, absolutely amazing surgeon who actually cared.
You will be greatly missed.
You will be greatly missed.
We met Norma when I was pregnant with my son after we had been told that he would be born with a cleft lip and palate. Norma was so kind and gentle, explained things calmly and clearly. She made us feel safe and that we could put our trust in her as we handed over our tiny baby to operate on. Norma was incredible and we will forever be grateful for her skill and her compassion. Norma will always be a key part of our family story. When our son was three I wrote a book for him about his journey and I spent a long while choosing an illustrator to bring the right visuals. I loved giving the book to Norma when it was completed and her seeing that a page was for her and the artist had captured her in her scrubs. Norma always took time to speak directly to our son, the last time we saw her she asked him what he wanted to be, they talked for a while and since that day, with her guidance our son has wanted to be a radiologist. When I think of Norma I am overwhelmed by feelings of love and gratitude. Sending heartfelt condolences to her family from ours x
Very sad to hear about Ms Timoney's passing. She performed my son's lip and palate repairs in his first year. As an Irish person living in London, I felt so proud that one of our own was at the top of her field and I had nothing but the fullest confidence in her. Not many days go by where I don't thank my lucky stars to have had my son Eoin under her care, particularly when he gives one of his beaming smiles. We will always remember her fondly. May she rest in peace.
an asset to the cleft team my daughter was 12 weeks old when i handed her over to perform her first surgery she’s now 13 longest time of my life waiting for her to come back she always made sure we were put at ease her scar in barely noticeable now condolences to her family and the cleft community
I am so saddened to hear of the death of Ms Timoney, who performed my 9 year old daughter’s cleft palate repair and buccal flap surgery. She always spoke with a quiet confidence, and her work spoke for itself. She changed my daughter’s life and both my daughter and I will forever be grateful for it. A loss to the cleft community, but I’m sure even more so to her family, friends, colleagues and all who knew and loved her. My deepest condolences to all those people.
I knew Norma as my daughter’s surgeon, aka guardian angel. She first met my daughter at 10 days old, and was so gently reassuring and clear about what operations Lily needed, and made us nervous first time parents feel confident that it would all be ok with Lily’s cleft. Lily could not have been in safer hands. She was lucky to have Ms Timoney conduct 5 operations on her cleft lip and palate. Such expert hands means Lily’s cleft is barely visible and she is a thriving 13 year old who loves to perform and sing. We shall be forever in Ms Timoney’s debt and will never forget what she did for Lily and the many children and adults she helped. Sending love and condolences to her family. May she rest in peace xxx
Thank you for giving my son his smile. You were an incredible surgeon. Thank you. Xx
