Liz, Celine, Niamh & John, you all came into our lives because of dear Ian’s desire to take to the skies, which he did with Norman, an exceptional flying instructor and exceptional man. I think back to the couple of decades when our lives seemed deeply entwined on so many levels, bonds which remain unbroken and which we value - all triggered by Norman and his welcome which extended beyond the Theory of Flying. He’ll be flying circuits with his old pupil high above the clouds right now. Hugs to you all xxx

Niamh, Celine and families, I was very sad to hear of Norman's passing, I knew him initially from my days, 45 years ago in an insurance company and Norman as a broker. He was always a gentleman in our dealings. He was nicknamed Biggles due to his moustache and flying exploits. Indeed in later years when we were friends he took me for a flight out over the Saltee Islands. He was very comfortable as a pilot and instructor. I will miss our chats when we were able to have them.

Our deepest condolences Niamh on the passing of your dear Dad. Losing a parent is such an immensely painful loss to bear. Our thoughts are with you, Adrian, Caitlín, Grace, Rose and all of your extended family during this extremely difficult time. Sending you all lots of love and strength.

I had the pleasure of meeting Norman many years ago when he was on holiday and when i was in Turkey working as his holiday rep. I looked forward to our daily chats as his stories were always fascinating. He lived a life that only some of us could dream. When he returned from his holiday he wrote a glowing letter to the travel company i represented and to say i was overwhelmed to read what he wrote was an understatement because coming from a man like him was such an honour ( i still have the letter as i was very proud to have received it).

To all of Norman's family and friend's i send my sincerest condolences and im sure you will all have a big void in your lives. Please be kind to yourselves and support each other though the very difficult time. 💜

Offering my condolences to you all on Norman's death. We had lots of chats when he used to come into Greenacers when I worked there. Such a lovely man with a beautiful smile which lit up the place when he came in. May he rest in peace.

Thinking of you Niamh and your family at this difficult time, as a fellow family member of Foxrock Nursing Home, Norman would always stop to say hello to me when I was visiting my mum. It’s such a difficult journey that we travel but may his soul be at peace now.

Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard but always near, still loved, still missed, and held so dear.

My heartfelt condolences and sympathies to you guys … your home was my second home growing up and I had the pleasure of more than a few of Norman’s scoldings . He was always able to put me in line with his tongue in cheek manner . He was a lovely man I was alway struck by how good looking he was. He looked like he should be in an American private detective series .. I hope you guys aren’t too sad and remember to celebrate his life , he had a long and good one and a beautiful Family .
