Oliver HICKEY

Only recently through an old friend did I hear of the passing of Mrs. Hickey's beloved Husband, Oliver. Sending extended sympathies to all.

A quiet memory was remembered & for a brief moment how fondly words were spoken of him, a rare moment for Mrs. Hickey to any student. The light in her eyes & her gentle smile had expressed all upon those few moments spoken.

May her beloved rest easy & in eternal light for always. Thoughts. 🕊

Sincere condolences to Cliona, Lucy and all the family. I lived up the road as a child, and always have fond memories of Oliver. He was always so warm and kind. Wishing you love and strength in the coming weeks and months.

I will always think of his lovely smile and slightly mischievous air, whenever I happened to bump into him on the Avenue or elsewhere. He was a lovely, lovely man - but of course you know that. Sincere Condolences Cliona, and to Oliver s, children, a wonderful human being, I was in my 20s, when I worked beside Oliver, at the prebooked Car Hire in Dublin Airport, we both worked for different companies, but he was such a inspiring man for me, as a young woman.
He's someone that I was so grateful to have met in life and spend the working day with, Kind and respectable, a gentleman to chat with and lot's of funny moments too. 💗.

Very sorry to hear of Oliver’s passing.
We had the pleasure of renting his appartment in Nice for a week in July which he supported with fully from start to finish.He was a true gentleman and his warmth was admirable. RIP

Saturday I'm just home !! Absolutely shattered to hear of Oliver's passing!!!
What a lovely human being!! Great craic in the MPI with him over the years !!! Rugby knowledge unparalleled!!! One of the greatest West Cork scrum halfs of all time !! True ( he told me ) My abiding memory of Oliver will always be Covid !!! There he was with Ed and his various guests sitting in armchairs in the sunshine outside the family home as the fresh pints arrived from the MPI !! He lived life to the full and was so so proud of his family!! I will miss him big time !! Thank you Oliver for some wonderful insights to life !! May your gentle kind soul rest in peace !!

Dear Cliona, Pierce, Lucy and Stephen,
I was very saddened to hear about Oliver's passing. I have always had great memories of Oliver. From the times I spent during the summer in Dublin at your home when I was a kid, to later in life on the rare occasions when I happened to be back in Ireland and was lucky to meet him. I remember him giving me a rugby ball for Christmas back in late 80's when I was about 8 years old. That was my intro to rugby and what may seem like a small gift back then had a huge impact on my life. I am very thankful to have met such a kind and fun person.

We were so sad to hear of the sudden passing of lovely Oliver. We knew him from his days moonlighting at Herman Wilkenson, he was always so kind to our daughter Chitra, about 3 then. She’d draw him pictures and he’d make a great fuss about hanging them on the wall in his office. In subsequent years he’d ask about her ballet career and told us about his daughter (we also had a Frankfurt connection). Such a lovely man. Our hearts go out to you and our deepest sympathy. Oliver will be greatly missed….

Cliona and family.it is nearly noon on October 17th and I was glancing at today's Irish Times and I see Oliver's death RIP. May he rest in peace. I am so sorry and really surprised. He was always so active in Swan Leisure where I haven't been for a while. May he rest in peace and I will be thinking of you and your family.
