Condolences to the Dowling family on the sad passing of olllie may he rest in peace 🙏
RIP Ollie,

When I discovered Jazz FM as a teenager it was a bazaar of wonderful music I needed to feed my hunger beyond the restricted radiowaves. It fuelled a thirst to hear all the music that still lives on today.
I was delighted when he offered me a weekly show (The Blueprint) on 89.8 where I could put my obsession to good use. Ollie was a great guide and support as the presenting part wasn’t my forté!
Years later I’d be in touch again as he would have my band playing gigs around the city.
Then in touch again as we crossed paths with his Internet Radio station “Head Wax” which I regularly tune in to and host on my own site.
His presence will be sorely missed in the radio & music community in Ireland.
My Condolences to Ollie’s family and friends.
Thanks for the music & memories Ollie.
Sincerest condolences to Ollie’s Family & Friends. Ollie gave me the opportunity to do what I love, giving me some of my first jazz singing gigs. For that I will always be eternally grateful. Rest in peace Ollie.
RIP Ollie. One of a kind.
Sincere condolences to all the Dowling family on the sad passing of Ollie. May he rest in peace.
Along with so many others, Ollie gave me my start in Radio in 1998 with a Hip Hop show on Jazz FM.
I was 17 but sounded like I was 12.
Ollie saw past the awful radio voice and saw the passion I had for music.

Giving me this huge opportunity opened so many countless doors for me that paved the path to where I am today, 26 years later still DJ’ing.

Thank you, Ollie.
DJ Flip,
The Next Level Part 2,
Jazz FM 89.8 on the dial.
My condolences to Ollie’s family and friends. Ollie hired me for my first ever jazz gig in a Capel Street venue back in 2007 and many times over the years including for my first ever solo gig in 2013. Performance opportunities can be hard to come by especially when you’re starting out and they’re so important for young musicians honing their craft so I’m grateful to Ollie for all the opportunities he gave me. May he rest in peace.
My deepest condolences to Ollie's family and friends. The funeral mass today, despite the sadness of the occasion was a lovely celebration of Ollies life and Chantells eulogy was beautifully delivered and brought a smile to the faces of everyone in attendance.

I first met Ollie when we rented a shed in Sandyford together in the pirate radio days of the late 1990's. Jazz FM broadcast for half the week and Spectrum/Phantom broadcast the other half. Madness. We both moved to city centre studios after that but kept in touch right through the licence applications and the raids of 2003. Ollie got back in touch with me in more recent years when he was starting Headwax Radio for tech advice. I could help him with web streaming but only he had the knowledge and the passion for the music. Long may that musical legacy remain.

We were talking about Ollie on a Dublin Pirate facebook group in the last couple of days and the fondness for him and the admiration of his passion and drive came through there too. RIP Ollie.
Sincere condolences to all the Dowling family on the sad passing of Ollie.May his soul rest in peace.
Deepest sympathy to Fiona, Chantel and all the Dowling family on the sad passing of Oliver. Leaba i measc na naomh go raibh ag a anam dílis.
Sincere condolences to all of Ollie’s family. I first talked to Ollie on my 18th birthday in 1995 after winning a Tricky 12” on one of his radio shows. He was a dreamer, a rare mix of an ideas guy who could get also get things done.

He ran many club nights and jazz events over the years but I think setting up Jazz fm in Dublin was a real triumph (which I was lucky to be part of). I feel he was unlucky with his timing and Dublin being too small for some of his plans. I hadn’t seen him in years but he was one of life’s great characters and had a positive influence on me. RIP Head
Thinking of all Ollie’s family and close friends.

I remember Ollie from Jazz FM in the late 90s/early 2000s - I used to do my homework in the studios while my dad was on air.

I vividly remember Ollie’s energy and passion for the station - he even voiced a number of commercials. He seemed to be able to do everything!

RIP
My deepest condolence to Chan and all the Dowling family on their loss. May Ollie RIP
Sincere condolences to Michael, Ann Marie, Patrick, Alan, Fiona Chantel and all the extended Dowling family on their major loss.
Ollie was a force of nature with a very positive setting in respect of being the best.
My radio debut was arranged by Ollie in the Dominick Street studio of Jazz FM 89.8 in year 2000. While we had our differences the experience of working there stood to me and, almost 25 years later, I still present jazz shows.
During his period working with and promoting Louis Stewart gigs I met him again and ended up interviewing Jim Doherty & Louis following the release of their duet album
Bravo Ollie you created some great radio experiences for so many listeners. Rest in peace.

To the Dowling family my condolences on ollie passing,May he rip.
My condolences to Michael, Ann, Patrick, Fiona, Chantell and Alan. Ollie got to do what many do not and that is live his dream. He was a major influence on the music scene in Dublin in the 90's via his work on DLR and later as the founder of Jazz FM an iconic radio station that paved a path for so many myself included. He was also well known throughout the city through promoting various club nights in places such as U2's nightclub the kitchen and beyond, I was proud to have him as a friend, cousin and briefly as a manager he would always fight your corner and never forgot his proud Kildare roots. May he rest in peace.
Condolences to Michael , Ann and Family may Ollie rest in peace

The Irish music and radio world has lost one of its great characters. You left us way too soon, my friend.
Deepest sympathy to all of Ollie's family and friends. May he rest in peace. RIP.
Ollie was a passionate force of nature! He was such an optimist. In his mind everything could be sorted out. Always asking if there was any “hassle in the castle”. Now, I didn’t know him very well but he gave me my 15 minutes of fame at Jazz FM in the late 90s. Thanks Ollie. I was part or the line up in the first year of Jazz FM in the nineties, along with Chip, Bootsy, Aidan C., Katie and Spiff and others I can’t recall. My show was Café LeRooski and I played Jazz, Hip Hop and God knows what, mixed in with samples of comedy (sponsored by Eddie Rocket’s). He arranged a party for the first year on air and I was recognised by my voice by strangers. Ollie made things happen. Although I haven’t been in contact since then, I am very sadden to hear of his sudden passing and my prayers are for him and especially his family and friends. I am writing this much detail because I know Ollie’s family may not know all the positive impact Ollie made on people’s lives and I hope that gives them some solace at such a sad time.
God bless,
Louis LeRooski

My deepest condolences to all of Oliver’s family and friends.

For me, this loss is deeply personal—I cry and pray every day. Oliver came into my life unexpectedly to help me, and he stayed by my side until the very last day when he suddenly left us.

I am profoundly grateful to him for being my friend, mentor and manager for two years. He changed my life in so many ways, especially by sharing his energy and unwavering belief in me.

Though we met in person only twice, we spoke on the phone almost daily, sometimes for hours, about everything under the sun. He often shared stories about his friends and loved ones, whom he cared about so deeply.

He spoke of his difficult journey, the nightmares that haunted him, and the importance of staying strong. He told me he didn’t drink alcohol because he knew it would have taken him from this world long ago, but he wanted to live. He found peace in music, helping others, working hard, connecting with friends, and offering his wisdom.

I miss him terribly. Rest in peace, Oliver.
