He was my first music teacher - teaching us The Dawning of the Day, Star of the County Down, Boolavogue, The Harp that once, and many more.

I still get great enjoyment out of trying to play music almost 50 years later and always think of the band when I hear these tunes.

A gentleman always, he brought music and enjoyment to a lot of people over a wide area through his playing and teaching of bands, carrying on the tradition of bandmaster in his family. We enjoyed a lot of sessions together and way back he brought me to far away places like Dr Galligans in Cavan and to Clones, not to mention the local pubs and Kilcogy Comhaltas. A legend in his lifetime, he livened up every company that he came into. We remember also the wider O'Reilly family, especially his twin Tony in Florida. Leaba i measc na Naoimh dó anois with his beloved Rosemary.
