I was asked this morning by a colleague if I had known Orla O'Neill. She thought maybe she had met Orla with me. She hadn't in fact but I remember Orla so well from our days in Blackhall. I remember the brightness, the smile, humour and energy and her very friendly nature. A girl who stood out. I was not one bit surprised when I heard she had taken up teaching, something that would suit her so well. To her husband, Donal, her children, her Mum and Dad and extended family, my sincerest condolences. You can be very proud of Orla. Patricia

The last time I met Orla was about 15 months ago, maybe more, and I was sitting beside her coming out from town on the 11 bus. She told me her entourage consisted of nieces and nephews to whom she set the target of trying to travel on as many modes of transport as was possible in one day.
They walked, cycled, travelled on bus, Luas, Dart and on the Liffey! I reckon it was only constraint in Time that prevented her from turning up at the Airport, smiling her way through security and making it on to a plane for 5 minutes or until finally arrested! She'd have revelled in that! When you have time Donal, collate all the stories and you'll have a Bestseller! I have a candle burning on my hall table in front of her picture. Hilda

To Donal, Rory, Kevin, Aoife and family, my deepest condolences. Orla was and will always be one of the kindest people I know. She had treated me with warmth and always seemed to be cheerful. I remember her collecting us from school and the lunches we had. They were tasty! I also remember her being at school camogie matches and always being supportive. She will be greatly missed in the Kennedy’s house.

We were very saddened to hear of Orla's death. She was so very brave not only during her illness, but also throughout her very well lived life. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to Donal and family, Orla's parents Pat and Margaret, her siblings and her extended family and friends on the very sad passing of Orla RIP. I (Mary ) would like to make a special mention of Orla's aunt Mary O'Neill who was a colleague and a great friend of mine for many years in St.Basils, Tallaght.Mary was our home economics teacher and both teachers and students were the very happy recipients of her culinary skills. I can only conclude the apple didnt fall far from the tree! Mary spoke very often of Orla in glowing terms.Orla will be sadly missed by so many people.Donal gave a lovely account of her life at her requiem Mass.What a lovely job he did! May her gentle soul rest in the arms of Jesus.We will keep you all in our prayers and Masses. Fr.John and Mary.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Orla. Rory, Donal, Kevin and Aoife you are all in my thoughts. Orla was an unbelievable woman and I feel blessed to have known her. My primary school days are full of happy memories that I would not have were it not for Orla. From teaching me the thin whistle to brightening up my day everytime I saw her, I will always be grateful for everything she ever did for me.

We were so sad to hear the news of Orla’s passing. I first met Orla in Froebel College when we both decided on a career change and started to do teacher-training together. There was a small group of us who had babies at home so it was tough-going for all of us. I’ll always remember you being a wonderful friend and a great support to me Orla. You were always such a genuine person, so nice to everyone, so calm, so measured, so resilient and with a great wit and a great sense of humour. You have been taken from your family far too soon Orla, but those lovely happy memories that you made with them all, that Donal spoke so movingly of at your requiem mass, will help them in the tough days ahead. Rest in peace dear Orla. We will miss you.
