Joe Enright
Oliver Switzer
Peter Considine .
My deepest condolences and prayers Margaret. You may remember me from visiting you in the Slobs just after Cian was born. Deeply, deeply upset about Oscar's untimely passing. All our love.
I will always keep a special place in my heart for my Uncle Oscar, one of the most gentle, intelligent people I have known. I will cherish my memories of you, rest in peace.
It's with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to Oscar. We will remember visiting and staying up to the wee hours discussing politics, ethics, and values. An intelligent and engaging man, he will be missed. May you find comfort in the memories of your adventures together.
Very sad to hear of passing of Oscar, he was a good friend in the early 1960s when he was in the 29th Scout Troop , Blackrock. My uncle Peter Pender was his scout leader.
May he rest in peace
Deepest sympathy to Margaret and also to Cian,Catherine and Jane and also to his sistors Morna and Clioda. Fondest memories of the Merne family in Ferns.
It was with great sadness that I learnt of the passing of Oscar, and my heartfelt sympathy goes to all his family. Oscar never failed to help with any request I had, whether by phone, email or letter, about birds and ringing that I asked in the 18 years that I knew him. I will remember him as the true gentleman he was.
Oscar's untimely death will leave a great gap throughout Ireland's ornithological and conservation fraternity. I first met him and his young family when he was the Warden of the Wexford Wildlife Reserve in the early 1970's, and subsequently nearly every year at the Joint Conference of Bird Watch Ireland and the RSPB. My wife Julie, joins me in sending deep sympathy to you all. Paddy Mackie Castle Espie.
To Margaret and family, our sincere condolences on the recent passing of Oscar. A huge inspiration, great friend
and colleague.
My sincere condolences to Oscar's family. A great inspiration to me. Happy memories of fieldwork and conferences.
I was so saddened to hear of Oscar's death via the Wicklow branch of BirdWatch Ireland. He will be greatly missed. I first met Oscar on Rockabill island in 2004, when I worked there as a summer warden. He was a genuine source of inspiration, so generous with his time, and his huge knowledge and experience of seabirds, ringing, and conservation. He also seemed to have an endless supply of incredible travel stories. My sympathies to his loved ones.
Mrs Merne, Catherine, Cian and Jane. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Love Edel.

Very sad to get this news of the passing of a great old scouting friend with the 29th Blackrock.
My dearest Margaret, know that I am deeply saddened by uncle's passing. I will be praying for you all. Please know I am here for you if you need anything.

Our sincere sympathy to his family and friends. He encouraged us , as Dutch birders, to start with ringing birds in Ireland and we still do.
