Owen was such a welcoming and helpful neighbour to me for the past five years. Always had a smile on his face and a big hello. Will sincerely be missed - working away in the forge, stopping for friendly chats; he’ll always be remembered, a good soul and great craic. My heartfelt condolences to Deirdre, Lucy, Colm and family, not only a stalwart of the Wood Road but one of the true gentlemen I had the pleasure to encounter

My almost daily visits to the forge growing up, normally due to our driveway being blocked by one of the frequent visitors or just a curious kid, I was always met with kindness, humorous warmth and a touch of devilment that may have flown over the head of a young fella

The early morning sounds of the forge were a constant of my youth, your acts of kindness for our family were a true example and positive influence, a gentleman who will be truly missed

Condolences to all Owen’s loved ones. He was the friendliest man in Ardara; you’d always hear the ‘hello’ from the forge when passing, and see the big wave from him in the van when he drove by - often in times past with his loyal dog in the seat next to him. I will remember him fondly. His presence will be missed from the town and the Wood Road. RIP

Only met Owen once in ardara one day . I had had a breakdown near his forge and needed some welding done. Despite my insistence He refused to accept payment and sent me on my way. RIP.
