Our deepest condolences to you Neil and the whole family.
The brothers Owen and Jimmy O Connor, were called home within a week of one another. They were in every sense two stalwarts of Firies. Their going from us leaves an huge gap in our community. Both were affable, diligent family men. Their contribution to the social, and sporting life of the parish would be hard to quantify. In their working lives as builders and undertakers they touched almost every family in the parish. On the football field in the 50s and 60s they were to Firies what the Cliffords are to Fossa . My heartfelt sympathy to both of their families may their Faith be their consolation. May the Good Shepherd lead Owen and Jimmy to the rooms prepared for them in the Father’s house.
