Owen (Owenie) Rafferty

Deepest sympathy to Mary, Michael, Ged, Marian, Carol and all the Rafferty family and friends on Owen's passing. I have such fond memories of Owenie singing his heart out in St.Peter's Male Voice Choir. He had a wonderful voice and I can still hear it in the top line of my piece 'Solstice.' Both generous and helpful, he always gave me great advice about male voice choral music. I always enjoyed my chats with him in the DI offices. He has gone now to join Eugene at the great gig in the sky. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam agus ceol i measc na n-aingil.

Owenie was a true gentleman, with newspaper ink running through his veins. I used to love when he'd pop into the front office in number 9 to collect his paper and have a chinwag. And with a voice like rich velvet, it’s no wonder he sang for Popes and his beloved community alike. RIP Owenie.
