Eoghan (Owen) was a member of the Co Louth Archaeological & Historical Society and always kept in touch on issues relating to Faughart. These past few years were exciting for Eoghan as the Bruce (Edward) invasion occurred in 1315 and would be culminating in the Battle of Faughart on 14 October 1318 which is now 700 years ago. He gave a very well researched and insightful talk in Newry a few years ago and we were impressed with his knowledge and love of his beloved Faughart. Two years ago he also penned a few pages on some of the lessor known historical aspects of Faughart as part of a collection of articles to honour our long standing editor. Eoghan will be missed, May he rest in peace.
