Pa taught me maths and physics in the Early 80’s and engendered a love for both in me. He set me on my college course and subsequent engineering career. He taught with humour and compassion and never needed to raise his voice or resort to any form of physical punishment. He brought us on a science trip to Tarbert generating station and bought us pints on the way home. An absolute gent, may he rest in peace and condolences to his family.

I was greatly saddened to learn of Pa’s passing. He was an inspiring teacher who could as frequently leave your sides splitting with laughter as your mind twisted and turned and blown wide open. Neither maths nor science was my forte, but I first heard the names of several writers and philosophers from Pa. He was an educator in the truest sense of the word, and I think back on his lessons with gratitude and a smile.

I was very sorry to hear of Pa's passing. A supportive colleague certainly, but what we loved the most was his quick wit.
Working in KCS was always easier and a lot funnier when Pa was around.

He was a true gentleman, scholar and historian who loved his native land its people and heritage. Pa's protra ted knowledge on any subject was unique. His name will live on for generations. There will be a great void on the Aylevaroo road as Pa cycled most days to Moyne Bay. We trust that God will have a great Cèad Mìle Fàilte for Pa. Marie sympathies to you and family on the passing of your brother

Very sad news. I wasn't the best student of physics or maths but Pa ended up giving me an appreciation of Faraday, Thomas Young, Boyle, Max Planck and I ended up grasping Newton's gravity equations no problem by Leaving Cert 1990. Pa even ran his classes where you could chat with him about whether there was any relationship between Coloumb's Law and Newton's gravity equation. Despite all the philosophising I still ended up with an honour in Honours Physics. I used to sit beside Seanie Lyons in the front row. God be good to them both now in Heaven. RIP

RIP Pa sound man and a great teacher you did your best with us well remembered.
