Our most sincere condolences to our cousins over in Ireland. I’ve only had the pleasure and privilege to meet Paddy only a few times whilst visiting my grandfather’s birthplace.
We had some wonderful visits, including memorable stories and countless laughs.
Paddy, (not to mention his beagles) was always a highlight of our visits to Ireland as he was such a grand man with a kind soul.

It was an honour to know you Paddy you always came to the door with a smile to welcome the kids to feed the donkeys, they cherish the memories of going up to Paddy’s to feed the donkeys. Thanks for the memories.
Sincerest condolences to all who knew Paddy he was a wonderful gentleman

It was with great sadness we heard of Paddy’s passing this last week, we came to know him when we built our holiday home back in 1995 in Emlaghpeastia, Portmagee, as I used to walk my dog up towards his house daily and would see him driving up and down the hill going about his daily routine and we would have a little chat. Indeed, my own parents when they visited would stop to talk to him too, one memorable day my Dad who was in early dementia disappeared to our worry and concern but happily on looking for him we found him leaning over the gate near Paddy’s field near the house, chatting away enjoyably, two men discussing life and it’s challenges. As our 3 children grew up, they used to go up and see his donkeys and give them carrots and pet them, in more recent times my own grandchildren used to call up to see them too. Paddy was a lovely friendly man, we knew he had had his share of health issues over the last few years and had only been speaking to Ted Connell who had told us Paddy was not doing too well. We will miss him and we have lots of happy memories of him down the years we have been holidaying in Portmagee.
