What a man, what a laugh (booming and infectious), what a life! So many fond memories of calling up the road in Smartscastle to chat with him, listen to his stories, giggle at his cheeky razor-sharp humour. He was always keen to learn how I was getting on and was generous with his time.

The world has lost a giant of a man, and I will, with extreme fondness, remember you Paddy.

I recall those years myself and Pat spent together on the Waterford Council of Trade Unions representing the ITGWU and the ATGWU. Later of course becoming SIPTU and UNITE. Pat was great at working across all the other unions because he had that respect as someone in no doubt about always being on the side of the workers. RIP Pat.
