Paddy was indeed a one-off, a real legend in his own unique way, a great friendly person who could tell a good story with insightful knowledge of local and national history, a proud proud Irishman through and through and most of all a most generous man with his time and love of life to share with all he met. We will never forget his beautiful ballad singing when he came to visit us in County Clare and all who heard him here thought what a fine singer he was, with jokes and great wit as well.

Paddy was always very kind to me especially when I started my career in the old "Thomond College" building at UL many years ago. I appreciated his advice then, and still do today.
