Paddy Lord

I was very lucky to have had Paddy as my godfather, a role to which he applied his characteristic consideration and dedication. His care and thoughtfulness were evident in deeds and words, spoken and written. I am so grateful for all of them, and to have the special memories of the visit he and Judy paid us in Hong Kong and the walk we did in the mountains around Discovery Bay. Thank you Paddy for your love and unfailing kindness over so many years. I will miss you so much. Rest in peace with Nana and Pop, Dermot and Portia and Charlotte.

Paddy was an extraordinary person and a great inspiration. My professional life was changed for the better when he gave me a job as a young engineer after I literally walked in off the street to his office in Navan... and my personal life was changed for the better when he introduced me to mountain running (and the IMRA community). Moreover, Paddy's love of exploring 'unusual' places and 'challenging' environments has been a huge inspiration. I still think of Paddy when travelling and I'll miss swapping stories about interesting adventures.

We have so many happy memories of Paddy on the mountains and the socialising when the race was done including a couple of wonderful evenings in the Clew bay house after the Croagh Patrick race.
