Padraic GIBBONS

Sincere condolence to the Gibbons family on the sudden death of Padraic, i was so saddened to read of his untimely death, Padraic was a wonderful neighbour on Muckross Parade, we missed him so much when he moved to Cabra. Padraic was a gentleman and always there to help his neighbours on Muckross, he will be so sadly missed, May his gentle soul rest in peace

Padraic was a climbing friend in the Irish Mountaineering Club, part of a close knit group. People gravitated to him, because he was genuine and just wanted to have some craic. I was lucky to spend some time with him in Greenland and have great memories of him during that time. Far too early for such a talent.

So where do you start with such an intelligent, generous and giving soul.
I post this at 03.40 am having left home this morning and then meeting an equaintaince Gerry Deehan at Bellewstown races and enquiring regarding Jamsie he told me of the funeral of a 58 in Claremorris and as knowing a lot of people from there " I am in disbelief learning Padraig Gibbons RIP has departed us " I was in Sligo RTC in 1980 when Padraig did his best to help me in my college studies- what a genius - hello to Eamonn O Brien and JJ Gallagher Mayo football and our friends. I met Padraig now and again and he started construction with Sean O Shea from Longford ( I think) and he was very happy- we spoke about Luke " the horse " and a brother in BAM - we promised to go to a match but never did- on hearing Padraig passing I am so sad but reading the condolence " what a man ".
I am shocked and saddened by his passing but take some solace from the acknowledgement of a life well lived. My Sincere Sympathy. 0872425133 mobile

Padriac was the one who inspired me the most to discover the amazing world of mountaineering and ice climbing. He also taught and mentored me through my first steps on rock and ice. We shared the rope on many occasions during countless adventures in Ireland and abroad. He was a special one, one you could always count on.
In the climbing community, he had the repotuation for one of the most reliable and solid people.
The memories I have of Him, are deeply embedded into my soul and shaped me as a person I am today.
He will be deeply missed by all and future adventures will never be the same again without Him.

I always felt better having spent time in his company,be it on the streets on a Monday or on the occasions when we’d meet for a pint.He was wonderful company,his generosity knew no bounds.A proud son of Mayo! Fear uasal!
