We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Padraic’s passing. Growing up near Athboy he, along with Brenda, was prominent in all our lives. When I think of him, words such as trust, knowledge, integrity and community come to mind. We are thinking of all his family. May he rest in peace.

Colm, I have just read of your Dad’s sudden passing. My deepest sympathies to you and your Mam and sister, and the Staunton and Clifford families on your immense loss. My deepest sadness to hear of the passing of Padraic. The goal mile run on Christmas day was always an annual meeting with Padraic. He ll be sadly missed. Thinking of all his family during this past few weeks. May he rest in peace.

Padraig and Brenda came to Athboy same year as us early 80s . He was a true gentleman,very knowledgeable on animal health. I took his advice on so many occasions personal and the farm animals . Thinking, with sadness, of all the Staunton family since the tragic news of Pauric's sudden passing. He was the heart and soul of the community in my memories of Athboy. His respect towards others was evident even as a child and he was highly respected in return. It is lovely to hear all the stories from so many of how he helped them and of his many interests, all so inspiring. The funeral service was just so beautiful, like nothing else I've ever witnessed and is a credit to him and all he achieved in his life, especially his wonderful family. Sincere condolences to Brenda, Emer & Colm and to all his siblings, family & friends. Your heartbreak is felt far and wide.

Padraic was one in a million. A proud Mayo man, he was kind, empathetic, had a positive outlook on life and time for everyone. He was held in such high esteem in the town. He looked after the people of Athboy through his role in the pharmacy and he had such vision in terms of the community.

On a personal note, being a close friend of Emer's, I have so many fond memories of Padraic from my childhood. The Staunton house became a 2nd home for me for many years and Padraic & Brenda were always so welcoming, even extending that welcome to their house in Mayo. Padraic was never in a rush and there was always time for a quick cup of tea before heading out the door, much to Emer's frustration when we were running late for music. Padraic loved to bring a gang of us down to the Féile and was always in his element in his beloved Mayo. I will always cherish those memories.

My heart breaks for you Brenda, Colm and Emer as you come to terms with his sudden passing. Padraic was so full of life and fun and his time came too soon. He loved you so much and was so proud of you. The people of Athboy and Louisburgh will never forget him. Go raibh suaimhneas síoraí air.

We were so sorry to hear of Padraic s recent unexpected death, and cannot begin to imagine how devastated Brenda, Colm ,Emer and family must be.
From our college days Padraic stood out as a dependable, friendly, supportive and memorable colleague, and he didn't change, as the many tributes from his friends in Athboy testify.
