Sincere sympathy on your loss

I first met Padraig at the age of 12 many years ago in Carrig Na Bhfear, he never ceased to amaze me with his array of talents, gifted hurler, footballer, musician ,linguist, business acumen but most of all was his super ability to communicate.
Over those 43 years I have some great memories of our times together and my live is richer for having met him.
He never did boring,

I was very saddened today to learn of the recent untimely passing of my good friend and former colleges classmate Pádraig.

I remember Pádraig as a teammate on our 1985 All Ireland winning colleges football team in Carraig na bhFear, I believe the only time the college achieved that accolade. He was physically very strong and athletic, a truly inspirational captain, and he displayed the leadership skills that marked him out as someone you always wanted to have by your side on the field of play. We were not in the least surprised when he went on to represent his club Valley Rovers at inter-county level for Cork with distinction in both hurling and football.

But more importantly, he was a very sincere, personable and amenable character off the field, and he was wonderful and enjoyable company.

I recall my uncle Fr. Tommy Hughes RIP, former principal of Carraig, fondly recounting that he had been honoured to officiate over Pádraig’s wedding to his lovely wife Elena.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Padraig; we worked together in Kepak many years ago; Padraig was always so enthusiastic and full of ingenuity…enjoyed travel and loved Italy so much so he and Elena and family made it their home.
