I met Padraig a number of times through his lovely niece Joan. He would pop in for tea on route to recess and join in our chats. A lovely man and a huge loss to his family. Thinking of you Mary at this difficult time xx

On way back from day out in Roundstone last Sunday eve. I saw a sign, 'Funeral ahead',
Cars lined a boreen to a cottage and a large gathering of mourners had congregated.
I pulled in at Joyces, Recess, looked up Galway rip only to realise it was Padraig who had passed.
Many times over the years in Kylemore he spoke of his visits to MAYO ballrooms.
Saddened to learn of his passing,May his soul rest in peace.

It is with deepest sorrow and sadness that I write this tribute to you. Your sudden death has come as a shock to us all. You were a kind, loving, caring man as well as a great storyteller and dancer!

I remember like yesterday how excited we were each summer to visit you and learn what the song of the summer was. You always had one and we would know it off word by word by the time our trip was over. Or your new dancing shoes you always seem to get right around our visit; I remember the year you got the ones with the tassels on them. I can still to this day hear my Mom yelling at you across the lake as you were on top of the mountain going after sheep to slow down, that my little brother was very small and couldn’t keep up to you as you were walking to fast and had much longer legs than him.

May God comfort and sustain Mary, Robert, Philip, Sandra, Lorraine and all my Aunts, Uncles and Cousins now and always.

Uncle Pádraig, you will truly be missed and will forever be in our hearts. May you Rest in Eternal Peace…

Pádraig always brought a bounce to life. He never missed you if you were within talking distance and made sure he said hello and greeted you. It was a measure of the man and of his respect and caring for everybody. It is difficult to realize that we will not see him again tending to his sheep in his native Recess and Gorroman.
