To Rose and Padraig's sons. How hugely saddened we were to read of your beloved father's death. He was a wonderful friend of our late parents Colum & Gertie McCarthy over many years and indeed a wonderful support to us after the passing of our own parents. Pádraig was an extremely supportive and loyal manager and colleague to me and many others. There was no problem to which he was unable to find and facilitate a solution by applying his unique combination of intellect, logic and common sense. He was a believer in lifelong learning and this was especially in evidence in his post ICI careers. He had the enormous respect of his work and business colleagues and all while managing to mingle it with liberal doses of humour and fun along the way.

I will always be greatly indebted to Pádraig for giving me the opportunity to move from Dublin to Cork with the Insurance Corporation of Ireland. A nicer man you could not wish to meet and great company to be with.

I first remember meeting Pádraig in early 1960 when he was an Inspector with Insurance Corporation of Ireland covering West Cork. He was a great friend of my late parents Tommy and Madge McCarthy, Rock House, Touraheen, Drimoleague. Pádraig and my father travelled around the Bantry area once a month in his Ford Anglia car EPI 30 collecting premiums and writing mainly Horse Driving Accident Policies. During those fine Summers Pádraig enjoyed saving the hay with us and he had a great love for the two horses Billy and Bunny.

You meet people who forget you, you forget people you meet, but sometimes you meet those people you can't forget, one of them being Pádraig Ó Luasa.

May Pádraig rest in peace.
