So sorry he's gone. I clearly remember sitting for hours over pots of disgustingly strong tea while we solved the problems of the world. He had a wonderful, intelligent sense of humour and could be amazingly kind (he once stopped his car to rescue a bug on the windshield that was trying to survive) but didn't suffer fools.
