It is with deep sadness that we offer our sincere condolences to Pat's wife Dorothy & family, daughter Sharon, sons Adrian & Brian and extended members of their families.
My acquaintance with Pat began when he was transferred to Limerick from the mother-house of Mountjoy Prison. He was in a loving relationship with "the love of his life Dorothy" They married later that year and endured admirable the many ups and downs of life together to this day in his 80th year.
He was a native of Co Sligo from the village of Geevagh and often reminisced about it and the nearby village of Ballyfernon which were very close to his heart. He was the perfect role model in the Irish Prison Service which he joined in 1963. Perfect manners, courteous and well presented. He was of a very caring disposition to those offenders in his charge, always conscious of the dignity of the person. In June 1974 he was promoted to the rank of Assistant Clerk where he diligently worked for 28 years until his retirement in 2002.
His departure from this life will be missed by Pauline and I as there will be no more enquiries from him as to the well-being of our family. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
