Pádraig (Paudie) Coughlan

Pádraig was a delight to deal with in Supervalue. He always greated you with a smile and a chat, usually about sport. He is sadly missed.

Sorry to hear about the passing of Padraig. I had met him and some of his siblings maybe in August at the The Roselawn .Same years in St Brigids & St Declan’s . A very genuine gentleman.

Paudie was a gentleman and it was always a great pleasure to have a chat with him. Like all his butcher colleagues he gave great advice when I was making a purchase. He had a wonderful smile, a lovely, warm and engaging personality and was always interested in hearing how his customers were doing. I have missed his chats & his friendly wave when we would meet in the car park as he was rushing home. Paudie was a special person who was taken much too soon from his family and friends.

It is with a heavy heart to add to this page our sincere condolences on the passing of Padraig who we met in Limerick a few years ago, he along with Elaine made our trip for a family reunion so completely unforgettable. Such a kind and accommodating man with a good dose of humour and banter to match. It is with deep sorrow that I learned of Padraig's sad and very untimely passing. Elaine , Iain and Ross my deepest and sincerest sympathy to you and to all Padraig's extended family.
I was GP to the Coughlan family for a number of years until I closed my practice in 2002. The Coughlans were not just patients. They were friends as well. I always found Padraig to be a very kind and caring person, concerned only for you Elaine and the boys, never for himself .He had a great sense of humour and his smile was infectious. We had the occasional disagreement. But that had nothing to do with medical matters, It was whenever Liverpool FC were playing Aston Villa. The former, nine cases out of ten were the victors. I always blamed the referee.
I only heard a short while ago of his illness. I called to visit him recently at his home. He was the same smiling Padraig, magnanimous in his welcome and as we always had done the topic of conversation was Liverpool. And was glad that Villa were not doing too badly either.
Elaine ,Iain and Ross there is now a great void in your lives, A place that can never be filled. Someone like Padraig is irreplaceable But, I have no doubt that as he did in life he will continue to take care of you from his heavenly home. The pain will ease with time but the happy memories will always remain with you
