Pat Bracken

My sincere condolences to the Bracken family. Pat thought me in the Jes. We remained good friends after school and we had many interesting conversations over the years about the economy and property. I was deeply saddened when I only heard recently about his untimely death. May he Rest In Peace.

I am sad to learn of the passing of the great Pat Bracken and my sympathies go out to Sinead, Jacqui, Padraig and all the Bracken family at this heartbreaking time. As a student, I admired Mr. Bracken for his patience, good humor and encouragement for getting complex math principles and problems explained in a matter I could understand and remember. He made maths fun and accessible. He loved his kids and his students were almost considered an extension of his family. He "walked the walk" of the Jes ethos and spirit that made my memories of that time some of the best of my life. You could always come to Mr. Bracken with a personal or academic problem and he would find the time and give of himself to help. I was never once turned away with any problem I brought to his attention. As a rower, he helped transform the Jes rowing club with his support, his energy and his time. His children, rowing legends in their own right, have inherited this drive and selflessness their father embodied - and his capacity to help others. I extend the Bracken family my sincerest condolences and support at this difficult time. Rest in Peace Mr. Bracken - you were truly one of the good ones and will be missed.

Such sad news. Pat was an outstanding teacher and a kind, warm generous man. I was delighted to have had the pleasure of meeting him over the years after leaving school (LC '87).
He was an excellent economics teacher - how I loved his explanation for the Law of Diminishing Returns.
