Pat Given

My sincere condolences to all the Given family on the passing of Pat. Like so many others from Listowel, he taught me in St Michael’s College, and I remember him as a kind and intelligent man. It was great to see him so active up to recently, walking up and down to Mass etc. May he Rest in Peace.

I never knew Pat, but he taught my Dad (Maurice O Sullivan) Greek for 5 years in secondary school in Listowel, and my Dad had the utmost respect for Pat and for his qualities as a teacher.

Comhbhrón ó chroí to all the Given family on the death of Pat. A truly kind and inspirational teacher who gave us, his pupils in St Michael’s College, a love of English, Irish and Greek. Poet, scholar, and the humblest of people who was always a joy to meet. Ach thar aon rud eile, céile ionmhain agus athair álainn.
