He was great role model, whose advice and example were a great influence on me throughout my service. As well as being a fine officer he was also a very decent gentleman. May he rest in peace.

It was with great sadness we learned of the sad passing of Pat. We extend our sincere and heartfelt sympathy to Pat's Dear wife Mary and Family on this very sad occasion. So sorry we couldn't be with you in those grieving days, our thoughts and prayers are with you all in spirit. Got to know Pat back in the early 70s when in Knockraha macra na feirme when organising a gymkhana Pat came on board, oh what an organiser, he got us a field in watergrasshill to convenience the competitors and what happened next? Knowing Pat they came from all over Munster. A Huge success. Words at the time couldn't thank Pat enough for what he did for Knockraha. Here we hope that Pat will reap all the benefits that he truly deserve. May Pat's Gentle Soul Rest in Peace.

I distinctly remember as a child how my grandparents Marie and Joe Forde had so much time and respect for ‘Captain Griffin’, as they called him.
I really did come to understand why in later years.
Such an intelligent but understated man. The phrase ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ is what springs to my mind when I think of Pat. When I think of how much he contributed to his community in such an understated way without ever looking for acknowledgment.

How he contributed to my education by taking me to school and college for 10 years.. carrying a load that would have otherwise made things quite difficult for me. And organising work experience for me in the dental hospital on top of it all. I will always remember and be grateful to him.

Ni bheidh a leithead ann aris.. There won’t be the likes of him again,
May he get a royal welcome in heaven tonight.
