I knew Pat from his Davitt House days. A very pleasant and engaging man, he was very proud of his Kerry roots. Pat and his table quiz teammates were always the ones at the top of the leaderboard on the local table quiz circuit back in the 80's and 90's.

Sorry to read of Pat's death. I worked with him in the old Department of Lands many years ago, before he decentralised to Castlebar in 1976. I was tempted to join him at the time but instead went to Education in Athlone the following year. Pat was a very dedicated and capable worker and I wasn't at all surprised that he left his mark in Davitt House. Condolences to all his family. May Pat rest in eternal peace.

He wore the green jersey on behalf of Irish farming in EU negotiations in Brussels and was an expert on the fair application of the Common Agricultural Policy rules at home.
