Deepest condolences to the O'Mahony family. I was a pupil at DLS Waterford from 1975 to 1980 and Pat taught me English from 1st through 6th years. He was also my year master for the senior cycle. Fond memories of studying Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Playboy of the Western World, Persuasion amongst others. I am grateful for the sound education that I received at DLS and the guidance from Pat. May he Rest in Peace. 🙏
My sincere condolences to the O’Mahony family. Pat was an inspiring English teacher, and a gentleman. RIP.
Mr. O'Mahony's ability to teach so many of us to love poetry is legendary. He was a gent.
RIP, great memories of Pat at DLS in the 90’s, great teacher and year master, had everyone’s respect and would always help students where he could, thank you Pat.
My sincere condolences on your loss. Mr O' Mahony taught me English in the 90's and was a bona fide gentleman and an excellent teacher. He was truly passionate about passing on his knowledge, which he did with a mischievous glint in his eye and some Wildean wit. We were lucky to have had him. Ní imithe uainn, ach imithe romhainn.
To the O' Mahony Family, I hope the kind words and stories will help your deep loss. My interactions with Mr O' Mahony came via the school tuck shop with Brother Tim, and Brother Finbar, they had great craic in there. Mr O' Mahony supervised the after school study, no messing on his watch. He had the human touch with us students and was fair, he had our respect. RIP Sir

Our sincere condolences to the O’Mahony family. He was an absolute gentleman and will be sadly missed
Pat left quite an impression on me and so many in De La Salle beyond our school years, with his ability to teach much more than what was in the books, by his manner and his innate sense of fairness. Condolences to you Máire and family. Rest in peace, Pat and thank you for your kindness and all the memories.
Sincere sympathies to Michael and All The O’Mahony Family.

I offer my sincere condolences to all the O'Mahony family. Mr. O'Mahony was our year master from 1973 to 1978. They were different times and he kept us all in order. He often had a twinkle in his eye and had many witty comments. Called "The Gent", he was just that, always immaculately dressed. His long contribution to DLS Waterford over several generations has few rivals. May he rest in eternal peace.
Very sad to read of the passing of a person who figured so largely in the lives of generations of Waterford students. At a time when discipline was strict, you always believed that behind his strict countenance when reprimanding you, was a fair and understanding man. Student nicknames for teachers were rarely kind, but his endured amongst all the generations. He was "The Gent". Quite an accolade from a diverse student body!! Totally committed to his job, he impacted positively on so many. What a memory, what a legacy. Sympathy to his wife and family on their great loss. More people than you could ever know, now all around the world, will remember and mourn his passing. RIP
My condolences to you Michael and your family may your father Pat rest in peace lovely person and teacher.

My sincere sympathise to the whole family on their loss of a great man. I had the privilege of working with Pat for 8 years and he was a great De La Salle man, who left his mark on so many people especially those whom he taught. 44 years service is amazing. There is not many giving that type lf service anymore . De La Salle College was in his veins and I pray that he recieves his eternal reward. Live Jesus in Our Hearts. Forever!
Sincerest sympathies on the passing of Pat. I shared a classroom with him for 5 years, and even though life has taken me away from Waterford, I have still had the opportunity to cross his path and enjoy his company over the years. Whatever love of literature I have, was encouraged and fomented in those formative years in De La Salle. May the Lord have mercy on his soul and may he rest in peace

My deepest sympathy to you and all the family. Pat was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He was such a lovely, kind man who left a lasting mark on so many of us.
I often think back to his English classes. He was an incredible teacher who made learning feel like a gift rather than a chore. I owe him a great deal for making those years and English so enjoyable. I will always associate Shakespeare's Julius Caesar and Hamlet with Pat. As Shakespeare wrote: 'His life was gentle, and the elements so mixed in him that Nature might stand up and say to all the world, "This was a man!"'.
Beyond the classroom, he was a wonderful neighbour and a dear friend to our family. He will be greatly missed by all of us. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Thanks Pat, may you rest in peace.

Sympathy from Liam Flynn (former pupil) wife Tushina and son Marius (former classmate of Pat’s granddaughter Ava). May he rest in peace.
It is with great sadness that I learned of this news. I had Mr. O’Mahony as a teacher up to Intermediate Certificate level and always held his classes in high regard. In every interaction I had with him, both inside and outside the classroom, he was consistently polite, respectful, and courteous.
I did not progress to his honours Leaving Certificate class following an afternoon when he asked me to distinguish between the tone and theme of a particular Shakespearean sonnet. My inability to respond was decisive, and I was subsequently assigned to another class.
Some years later, I was fortunate to be invited to write a weekly sports column for a provincial newspaper. On many occasions when I returned home, I hoped to meet him so that I might tell him about my amateur writing career and acknowledge the positive influence he had on my writing style. Regrettably, that opportunity never arose.
I extend my sincere condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.

Mr O'Mahony was our year tutor from 1973 to 1978. Our cohort marked our respect for him by making a crystal presention on the steps of DLS college before we sat the Leaving Cert. We gave him some challenges along the way and he kept a steady hand on the tiller. In more recent times, it was nice to meet him and his wife at Mass in the Sacred Heart church.

So sorry to hear of Pats passing. He was always so pleasant and supportive. May he rest in peace.
Sincere condolences to the O' Mahony family on the death of Pat. His dedication to his students and his commitment to the overall development of De La Salle College was truly inspirational.
I am genuinely saddened to hear about Pat O’Mahoney’s passing. Known as the Gent, he more than lived up to his name. One of those inspirational teachers that we some might think only inhabit Hollywood films, but he existed in real life. Anytime I hear a line of Shakespeare, I think of Mr. O’Mahony. Thank you. Sincere sympathies to all the O’Mahony clan. RIP
Sincere condolences to Niamh and extended family on the passing of her father. May he rest in peace.
