Pat (Paddy) Delaney

Dear Geraldine & all of Pat’s family,

I’ve only just learnt the terribly sad and shocking news that Pat suddenly died. I’m so incredibly sorry to hear this.

From my boys, who Pat was very fond of and gave priceless words of wisdom & advice to, and bestowed gentleness and love upon, which I was very grateful to him for, my wife and I, we send you all are deepest and heartfelt sympathies & sincere condolences.

Pat was a great man, a great character and and a pure gentleman (one of his expressions); on a personal level, a real friend to me. He counselled me on a great many matters in life and was someone I learnt a great deal from and confided in. I will miss him terribly and so will my two boys. We spoke regularly to him on the phone in recent times, having lost contact for a while. We had our ups and downs. I worked with him on the London 2012 Olympics and we became great friends from there. A brilliant carpenter and fearless worker. An intelligent, kind, genuine & spiritual man. He loved a chat and the craic. A huge loss. I’m so very sorry. God bless you all.

I’m in state of shock to hear the news which I feared had happened. But you are at peace now my friend. God bless you Paddy. I’ll miss you Pat. I enjoyed our regular phone calls, I’m sorry we didn’t see each other for a while. We’ll see you again one day however. In the meantime I’ll miss our friendship dreadfully and the help and support you were to me & the two boys especially.
