It is with great sadness that I have just heard of the sudden passing of Pat. Deepest sympathy to Hubert and the extended Kelly family. Pat was one of life’s gentlemen. He always had a great welcome for me anytime we met. May he rest in peace.

To the Purcell's, Kelly's, and Manley's,

My grandmother, Kate Manley, left Oldcastle for America with her sisters Julia and Annie over 100 years ago. With the magic of the internet and diligence of cousin Pat Purcell, we were privileged to reconnect with our other Manley descendants of whom Pat Kelly was also one.

We made it to Oldcastle in September of 2022, legendarily dining with a fine brigade of Manley men (pun intended) at Caffrey's and later enjoying stories, song and laughter at Owenie's. Pat Kelly was an instrumental part of this magical evening. We later concluded that although over 100 years and an ocean separated first, second, and third cousins with little or no communications, aside from the expansiveness of the Atlantic - the values, the humor, camaraderie, and spirituality experienced by all that evening were inspiringly similar - unshaken by the years and the distance.

Pat Kelly was a gentleman with a warm smile, was easy to talk to, and had and endearing sense of humor. We looked forward to meeting him again - and one day, we expect we will.
