I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Pat. He was a lovely, gentle, compassionate person who campaigned along with me against bloodsports. Some years ago, he was part of a delegation from the Irish Council Against Blood Sports who went to Dail Eireann to make a submission against hare coursing to a committee on wildlife. He also accompanied me to the European Parliament to make a submission to the committee on animal welfare. He was our Treasurer for many years and did a superb job. On behalf of the Irish Council Against Blood Sports, may I extend sincere condolences to his family.

I got to know Pat through his weekly visits to the Melting Pot in Roscommon Town, where I work as a volunteer. We had some very interesting conversations and he was always delightful company.
I will miss him greatly.
May he rest in peace.
