Patricia Chavasse

I had the honour of meeting Patricia in 2015. I will never forget the welcome and her joy of receiving us on visit. What a presence and what dynamism. A strong woman who knew what she wanted in life. She adopted me right from the start in spite of the linguistic barrier she knew how to talk slowly and in a manner that made it easy to understand. Her house in Dungarvan breathed love and well-being. She would often be out and about and having a friendly chat with her neighbours. Many photos lit up the entrance hall of her many grand-children whom she cherished. She loved travelling and art as well as a wide interest in the ways of the world and others. I will keep a fleeting but true picture of her in spite of the shadow cast on her last days.

Pat was such a key person in the worship of St Barahane s Church Castletownshend, with Paul seeing to everything and choosing music. She was also one of the founding committee of the music festival; indeed it may have been her idea that set it in motion. Paul and Pat were so sociable and welcoming at Rocket House. Sympathy to all the family.
